Update: Daheim im Lorsbacher Thal & Daheim in der Affentorschänke
Honest-to-goodness regional dishes “just like Mutti used to make” are the forte of the apple wine tavern Daheim im Lorsbacher Thal; and the fact that, once again, its wonderful home cooking can be enjoyed daheim (meaning “at home”), i.e. in the tavern itself, is mightily cause for rejoicing.
If the last few weeks have taught us anything, it’s that eating in the company of others is simply more enjoyable as well as more fun – and never less so than with a beautiful summer evening fast approaching, in the convivial ambience of the tavern’s large (250-seat) beer garden, though the interior, too, makes a wonderfully apt and authentic setting in which to savour to the full the joys of Frankfurt’s apple wine culture.
Every week a special is presented by Frank Winkler himself in a video (so far just a German version is offered): lovers of solid regional dishes will be delighted. There are also delicious vegetarian dishes and the tavern’s selection of apple wines is legendary.
The opening hours have changed. The tavern is open now from 4 pm to 11 pm on Thursdays and Fridays and 12 am to midnight on Saturdays and Sundays, with hot dishes served in each case until 9:30 pm.
Until further notice, its sister establishment, Daheim in der Affentor Schänke, is only available upon reservation for private and business functions.
